Petco Park, The Golf Course?

Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres made an agreement with the Callaway golf company and will be hosting a nine-hole event for any golfer that signs up, although there are limited spots as it was first come, first serve. 1,500 people will hit the links starting on Thursday and golf in a baseball stadium. Padres President and CEO responded, "I was surprised a little (at the turnout), but I thought it would be popular -- that people would dig the novelty of it, but I think what people are going to be surprised at is it's not something you want to do once. We hope to do this every year. It's cool to play. It's challenging golf, you're taking full swings, the conditions out here, there's wind, there's sand traps, there's elements". The holes start in the upper decks of the stadiums and the actual holes are located on the field. Here's a look at the course map:

2015 World Series Champions: Kansas City Royals

Royals Win It All

The Kansas City Royals won the World Series on Sunday night beating the New York Mets 7-2 in game five in twelve innings. Royals Catcher Salvador Perez was named World Series MVP hitting .364 with two doubles, two RBI's and scoring three runs. The New York Mets made many errors in games one and five that were critical to the Royals' success. If the Mets did not make any errors in the series, they could have made this series even, or could have won the series. That tells you how perfect you have to be to win a baseball game, a game of failure and errors. The Royals had a parade Monday afternoon in the streets of Kansas City, and the fans showed nothing short of unbelievable support. Below is a picture of the streets from above.

Bud Black to Manage The Washington Nationals in 2016

The Washington Nationals hired former San Diego Padres Manager Bud Black on Wednesday, to take the reigns in the Nations Capital. Black will take over for Matt Williams who managed the Nationals in 2014 and 2015. Williams won National League Manager of the Year in 2014, but the Nationals failed to make the playoffs in 2015 after a disappointing season. Bud Black managed the San Diego Padres for almost nine year and had a record of 649-713. Black won the NL Manager of the Year in 2010 when he guided the Padres to a 90-72 record, although he never got San Diego to the playoffs.

Royals Take 2-0 World Series Lead on Mets

On Wednesday night the Kansas City Royals beat the New York Mets 2-0, to take a 2-0 series lead in the Fall Classic. Johnny Cueto out-battled 2014 National League Rookie of the Year, Jacob deGrom in a gutsy matchup. Cueto threw a complete game 2-hitter. The Mets now find themselves in a hole as they need to win the next 4 of possible five games in the series. In other words, the Mets cant lose two more games. Game 1 was played on Tuesday where the Royals won in fourteen innings. That game was anyone's game but it came down to who wanted to win more, and the Royals came through. The Royals were down by one run going into the bottom of the ninth inning when Royals outfielder Alex Gordon hit a game tying home run to send the game to extra innings where the Royals came out victorious. Game three will be at 8 ET on Friday night.

Family Over Everything

Edinson Volquez, a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals threw game one of the World Series on Tuesday Night, but did not know about the passing of his father that happened prior to the game. Volquez's family asked for the team to notify him after he was finished pitching in game one. Daniel Volquez, 63, of the Dominican Republic died due to heart complications. Royals Manager Ned Yost had to break the news to Volquez after the game. "It was just, you know, it was sad, a sad situation...You find out an hour before the game that your starting pitcher's father passed away and it was hard. But again, you wanted to honor the family's wishes, as they requested, 'Don't tell Eddie. Let him go out and pitch Game 1 of the World Series.' Volquez left the stadium immediately after he exited the game to be with family. "You could tell he was devastated", teammate Jeremy Guthrie said. "I had never seen him like that before. He was very quiet, very subdued, very quiet. I could tell he was in a lot of emotional pain." Volquez is currently with his family in the Dominican Republic.

Mets Sweep Cubs, Win NLCS

The Cubs didn't have Steve Bartman to blame this time around, as the Cubs lost the first four games of the NLCS against the New York Mets, sending the Mets to the Fall Classic. Cubs fans had a lot of hope going into the series, but that New York pitching staff was too much for the Cubs to handle. New York Mets Second Basemen Daniel Murphy was the MVP of the series after a record-setting series. In the four game sweep, he went 9-17 (.529) with four home runs, a double, six RBI and six runs scored. Murphy had a home run in every game of the series, and has homered in six consecutive postseason games, breaking a record set by Carlos Beltran of the Houston Astros in 2004. The Mets will play the Kansas City Royals in the 2015 World Series starting tomorrow night at 8 PM ET.

Cubs Take The NLDS

The Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908, and now they are among the final four teams competing for the World Series in the Major Leagues. The Cubs did not even win their division this year, coming in third place in the National League Central Division behind the St. Louis Cardinals who won the division, and the Pittsburgh Pirates who came in second place. Since there are two wild card spots (teams that did not win their division but can still make the playoffs), the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cubs were able to play one game to see who would play the Cardinals in the National League Division Series (NLDS). The Cubs won, and then just recently knocked off the best regular season team in the MLB, the St. Louis Cardinals. In a best-of five game series, the Cubs won 3 games, and lost one to advance to the NLCS (National League Championship Series) for the first time since 2003. Chicago fans must be very excited, for this is the first time since 2008 that their team has been in the playoffs at all.

Pawtucket Red Sox To Move To Another City

After 73 long years baseball in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the Pawtucket Red Sox, are moving the location of their team. Former PawSox owner Ben Mondor passed away recently and Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino has bought the team from Mondor's widow. Lucchino has ideas of moving the PawSox to Rhode Island state capital, Providence. "It's going to kill the town," said Heather Turgeon, 37-year lifelong resident of Pawtucket, "It's seriously going to kill the town." Pawtucket is not a very safe and healthy city and this team was the heart of the city and now that they are leaving to a yet-to-be location in Providence, residents of Pawtucket are disappointed. Initially, investor James Skeffington thought about renovating the stadium, and making improvements but it would have been too much money. They decided to sink 60-70 million dollars to relocate the stadium. "The problem is the infrastructure isn't there anymore", said Skeffington, "Times have changed and ballparks have changed." The PawSox atmosphere is gritty, not exactly the new atmoshphere new owners want to make a splash about, but its also a minor league atmosphere beloved by it's visitors for its simplicity. "It's kind of a bummer, said 53-year old Gary Tucker, a lifelong resident of Pawtucket. It's been here for a long time. It's been here ever since I've been a kid, I'm from Pawtucket, and I've always had the Red Sox here, so its kind of sad." As the organization does what is best for the Red Sox and their best interests, Pawtucket will not be forgotten for all the great memories made in a small city full of the love of the game of baseball.

St. Louis Cardinals Clinch Playoff Spot

It is yet another successful regular season for the St. Louis Cardinals as they clinched a playoff berth today when the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants 6-0. The Cardinals could have sealed their berth earlier in the day, but they dropped a close game to another National League powerhouse, the Chicago Cubs. With the best record in the major leagues, the Cardinals stand at a astonishing 92 wins and 56 losses. The Cardinals have always been a winning franchise, and they continue to make the fans in St. Louis happy. The Cardinals have an opportunity to be the first team since the Atlanta Braves (1995-1999) to advance to the National League Championship Series in five straight years, and also secure a third straight National League Division title. It would be their ninth such crown since 2000, which is stellar. Manager Mike Matheny said: "I think its real important to acknowledge the fact that you're one of the teams that is fortunate enough to play even one more game in the end...There are some guys in there that have never been able to celebrate anything, and we have been pushing since February for the chance to play beyond the regular season." Matheny and the Cardinals know winning is not an easy task, which is why they take the approach to never settle, and to always strive for greatness.

Inside The Park News Takes Off!

With the rise of Lacrosse today in America, the numbers of youth Baseball players is unfortunately decreasing at a large rate. This blog serves to promote Baseball and give you the latest news around the MLB (Major League Baseball), and also to discuss the concern of Baseball's future with the rise of Lacrosse across America. I am interested in this blog topic because as many of you know, I love baseball and I think more attention should be brought to the topic (rather than hearing about Tom Brady every day). Most of the blog will be written about Major League Baseball and the news around the league because there is not much youth baseball news, although promoting baseball for the youth of America is another goal of this blog. Major League Baseball and Baseball in general interacts with the fans of the game, all the teams, and the youth of Baseball players across the country. You should care about this topic because many people in this country love baseball, as well as many of you do, and it is important what happens around Major League Baseball and also, the future of Baseball in this country could be at risk, so I think it is an important topic, especially since Baseball is "America's Pastime" and is considered to be America's very own game.
